Day 29

Well this is the 2nd last day of our contest. I'm going to miss the daily creativity
sessions and brain storming, but Colin from On Point Photography has come up with another little project to help fill the void. Keep checking back to see what it's all about and see some exciting new images.

Cheers!

Day 28

High Key Portrait

This portraiture is designed or works/looks best with blonde or light coloured hair. In this shot, Angie, is wrapped in a white fur and I have her looking down and making no eye contact with the camera to give a peaceful feel to the image.

Your comments please.

Day 26 & 27

The hectic pace of the past 3 days is finally over. The Algonquin College Photography Exhibition was a great show. Thanks to those that went and supported my students.

Now, the competition... The car shot was a result of the 'pay it forward' thinking. One of my students gave me the location of an or wrecker/restoration yard, so I decided to visit it - What a great place! I also found some other great places to shoot on the way out to the wreckers. Contact me if you want to know where these locations are. The next shot I took is a figure study image. Figure study is a fine art approach to a nude photography. It's a simple, tasteful and classy image. There were some better images taken during the shoot, but this was my first shot. I will post more and provide the link later.

Cheers & Enjoy!

Day 24

I don't want to say I'm running low on ideas, I have lots, it's just hard to get people to pose for me on such short notice, that's why this image is a little weak. Although this image is weak, it has given me an idea for a series of images which I'm going to start working on outside of the contest - check back soon to see my pics of what I'm talking about.
Oh, by the way - I love the Home Depot!

Day 21, 22 & 23

I finally post again!

As a result of being really busy and needing to get some rest for a busy week ahead, I have been slacking on posting to my blog. Above are my last 3 days photos in order of the 21st, 22nd, 23rd.

If you're in the Algonquin College (Woodroffe Campus) on Thursday April 26, 2007, stop in and take a look at the 2007 Photography Exhibition. You will see work from the graduating class and from my first year students. See the link below for more info.

A Great Day

Today in addition to our photo a day contest I assisted Colin Gemmell of On Point Photography in a photo shoot with 15 models for New York New York Fashion. It was fast paced shoot with alot of intensity, energy, and good models! Thanks to the models, organizer (Crystal), and Colin for a great day!
I will post a link to the photos once all 1400+ have been edited down and posted on the web.
Cheers!

Day 20

Well here it is... nothing special, but the cutout filter gives it the comic book style that I was going for.
Tomorrow is another day... I will definitely do something better tomorrow.
Cheers!

Day 19

Oh Brother!

It doesn't matter how many times you test and meter all your flashes and plan everything to the finest detail, something can always go wrong as you can see from the above. The left image was the first one, as the contest states, one image, and only one image. For some unknown reason the flashes decided not to fire. Lets just say I asn't pleased! I did take another few shots, since I did take the time to set up everything and meter, that's the one on the right (much better).
What do you think?

Day 18

Well I made a post yesterday, but there was some problems with the blog site, so it got lost in cyberspace. If I can remember correctly, this is what I wrote.
Today I had the pleasure of shooting my friend Angie's reptiles (I'm only posting one, and it's my first shot, here and in the gallery, the rest will be posted somehere else in my gallery). Thanks to Angie for posing and feeding her pets. The picture is of Harry a Green Iguana.
Tell me your thoughts.

Day 17

I was out last night watching the Sens win against the Penguins. Go Sens Go! So, I got in just under the wire, in fact if you were to check the metadata I literally left it until the last minute - 11:59. It's not the most solid shot, but it still works. Although it's a Macro, so it's an easy out. I'm going to do my best to redeem myself today, even though I'm suffering from food poisoning which I got from eating chicken wings last night at Local Heroes.
Cheers!

Day 16 - Part 2

I was playing around with this image using overlays, colourization, saturation, etc. and I think I like this one better than my original submission.
Your thoughts?

Day 16

Here's my one shot of the day. I was trying to go for an old school/holga camera style image.
During this friendly contest I've found my creativity is sometimes hard to come by (especially with this crappy rainy and snowy weather postponing most of my outdoor ideas), but I've also found myself trying to shoot more outside my box/shooting style. I'm finding that this contest is helping me become more passionate about an art that I am already very passionate about; and always trying to one up myself (not to mention the other shooters).
Enjoy!

Photographers Blogs

I thought I'd pass on the blog links for the other Photographers that are in the friendly contest that I mentioned in my previous post.

One A Day Photo Contest

It's been a busy past few days and I haven't had a chance to make any posts. So, I thought I'd introduce you to a frienly contest that myself and 3 other local photographers have created and are competing in. The idea behind this contest was to see how creative we could be, how much thinking we do (making the correct exposure, etc.), to make one frame/exposure and that's it! No test shots! No reshooting! No excuses! One shot, One opportunity! The contest is now entering week 3 (runs April 1 to April 30). Go and check them out (each column is a different photographer - I'm the first column, Pat Blake is column 2, Marc Desnoyers is column 3, Colin Gemmell is column 4).

Blog Virgin

This is the very first post I've ever done on a blog. I'm going to try to update this weekly with whatever or wherever photography has taken me in the past week. Come back often to see what I've been up to.
Cheers!
