Once in a lifetime moment...

Imagine experiencing a once in a lifetime moment.  Now, imagine capturing this with your camera and being able to share it with the rest of the world.

I was very fortunate this past summer to travel to South Africa for a month, and witness some things that I had only ever hoped I would see.  I'm still going through my images from South Africa and will post some soon, I just need to catch up with all my client request and find some spare time in between teaching classes to photography and photoshop enthusiast.

The following video is not something that I've shot, but something that I could relate to, and figured there would be some of you out there that could relate to it as well.

"Bob Poole is a DP (Director of Photography for you still shooters) who often works for National Geographic. While filming researcher Jake Wall who is studying the migration of African elephants, Bob and his team came across one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen capture on video. You gotta watch this video to believe it but Bob was trapped in a sand storm in Mail for 4 hours while the sun was all but completely blocked by the flying debris. It always amazes me when I see photographers or videographers capture nature at it’s best."  fstoppers

Aleysha

Since returning from vacation a month ago, I've been sorting through 4,000+ images, connecting with clients, and started 3 more sessions of instructing at Algonquin College, The School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa, and the City of Ottawa. Printing and framing for my exhibit and arranging shoots for my ongoing project, have also been on my to do list since returning.

This past week I had the opportunity to continue with my project after a 2 month hiatus. This time it was Aleysha who executed the poses to perfection, resulting in some very strong images from the shoot.

Here are a few images from the shoot.

Welcome Back, Exhibit, and more...

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the lengthy delay between blog posts, I've been traveling for the last month in South Africa.  I will be posting some of the images from the trip on here soon, but if you would to see some sooner, click on over to my company page on Facebook - Icon Imaging, and become a fan of the page while you're there.

Also, since I've been back, I've hung an exhibit at the Nepean Visual Arts Center at the Nepean Sportsplex (entrance #3).  The images that are on display are part of the ongoing project I've been working on for the past 2 years.  A portion of the profits from the sales of the images and soon to be published book will be going to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.  The exhibit is on until October 11.

One last note.  I saw these 2 videos over at fstoppers blog and thought they were worth sharing with my blog followers.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
